A doctor answers
See a doctor from Claude Code, without leaving your terminal
Flushed cheeks, red bumps, and a Friday release deadline. Connect FutureClinic to Claude Code, send your visit from the terminal without a waiting room, and let /loop check for your doctor's reply.

The short answer
You can connect FutureClinic's MCP server to Claude Code through your Claude plan or with a single claude mcp add command, then describe your symptoms in an interactive session. After you confirm the intake summary and pay $40 for the best-fit physician or pick a recommended doctor (typically $20 to $100), a licensed doctor writes back with a treatment plan, typically within a few hours. There are no video calls or waiting rooms, and you can use /loop to check for the reply while you work.
Key facts
- Connect via your Claude account at futureclinic.com/connect-your-ai?app=claude-code, or run claude mcp add and choose Authenticate under /mcp if you use an API key, Bedrock, or Vertex.
- Visits must be sent from a normal interactive session rather than claude -p so you can review and approve your summary before paying $40 for the best-fit doctor or choosing a recommended physician (typically $20 to $100).
- A licensed MD, DO, or MBBS typically replies within a few hours (almost always the same day or the next), and /loop 2h check FutureClinic for my doctor's reply monitors for their answer in the background.
Shipping a Friday release leaves little room on your calendar, and your skin picked the worst week to flare. By midafternoon, your cheeks feel hot and flushed, with small red bumps spreading while your test suite runs. Usual medical options derail your afternoon: a local clinic slot takes weeks, a video queue makes you wait on camera for whoever is on shift, and a standard AI chat cannot diagnose you or prescribe medication.
With Claude Code open in your terminal, you have a direct path to a physician. FutureClinic runs a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for Claude Code so you can get a doctor through your agent while builds run.
Why get medical care through your agent in the terminal?
Working from the command line means your visit adapts to your schedule, without booking an appointment, sitting in a waiting room, or joining a video call. You write between tasks, a physician reviews your history and photos, and you read the plan when ready.
A written consultation covers extensive clinical ground: your physician can diagnose conditions, send prescriptions to your local pharmacy, order lab work, provide referrals, and follow up over time. Whether facing suspected rosacea or an eczema flare, a doctor manages your care by message.
We believe personal AI agents represent the future of how people manage their health, yet a clinic clipboard knows nothing about your prior AI chats. Linked to FutureClinic, Claude Code uses context you already shared to draft intake answers for your review, so you never repeat yourself or start over.
Pick one way to connect Claude Code
Your Claude Code sign-in determines your setup route. Configure it once, since adding the same server address twice forces a double sign-in.
If you have a Claude plan (Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise)
- Head to futureclinic.com/connect-your-ai?app=claude-code in your browser.
- Click Add to Claude so the "Add custom connector" window pops up with FutureClinic pre-populated.
- Leave "Use Claude's published identity" and "Sign in now" untouched, then click Add.
This attaches FutureClinic to your Claude profile for Claude Code and Claude's other apps.
If you use an API key, Bedrock or Vertex
- From your shell, run:
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user futureclinic https://mcp.futureclinic.com/mcp
- Open Claude Code and type:
/mcp
- Select futureclinic, then choose Authenticate.
As a fallback in any web-capable session, paste this setup line:
Set up FutureClinic for me: read https://futureclinic.com/llms.txt
Either route launches futureclinic.com in your browser on first use so you can sign in or register, then allow Claude Code to transmit your answers and photos and read your chats and health record.
Once it's connected, make sure you instruct your AI to use FutureClinic to help find you a doctor. Otherwise, it may not know that this is what you want.
Why does the visit need an interactive session?
No summary reaches a physician until you approve it, and Claude Code prompts for that confirmation inside your live session. A non-interactive claude -p run cannot pause for your consent, so claude -p cannot submit a visit. Always use a normal interactive session to confirm your summary.
From flushed cheeks to a treatment plan
- Describe it. In an interactive session, tell Claude Code what is bothering you:
My cheeks keep flushing, and I've had small red bumps across them all week. Could it be rosacea? I'd like a FutureClinic doctor to look at it.
- Review the intake questions. Your terminal agent gathers what a physician needs to know about your skin, including when the redness started, whether heat, sunlight, or spicy food sets it off, your skincare routine, past treatments, medicines, and allergies. A daylight photo of your cheeks helps.
- Approve the summary. Read the compiled summary, fix anything inaccurate, and confirm.
- Choose your payment option on FutureClinic. Every fee is shown before you pay, with no insurance forms and no subscription required. Most patients choose the default $40 option, routing the case to the best-fit doctor across the whole clinic; alternatively, you can pick a recommended doctor after intake at their listed price, typically $20 to $100.
- Return to your work.
Polling for your doctor's reply with /loop
Once your visit is sent, let a loop watch for the answer:
/loop 2h check FutureClinic for my doctor's reply
That command polls every two hours while you code. FutureClinic also sends an email when your physician replies, plus a push alert in the FutureClinic app, or you can ask, "Did my doctor reply?"
Written responses from physicians typically come back within a few hours, and almost always land the same day or the next. While your AI organizes intake questions, every clinical judgment belongs to the doctor. Alongside that written plan, your physician attaches a Human Signature, a brief voice or video clip recorded live for you as proof of one-to-one care from a real doctor.
Who reviews your case, and what your fee covers
Across the clinic, generalists and specialists practice side by side, with more than 280 doctors spanning 63 specialties. Every clinician holds an MD, DO, or MBBS degree and is verified and vetted by FutureClinic prior to taking patient cases. Because we believe your health deserves expert-level care, your visit never goes to a nurse practitioner or a physician assistant.
After your first consultation, you can stay with the same doctor in the same chat for refills, progress updates, or follow-up questions, giving you the personal doctor relationship the wealthy have always had.
Many telehealth sites make money selling their own medications or monthly product packages. Because FutureClinic sells no medicines or retail items, and your doctor earns nothing extra when ordering a test or writing a prescription, your fee pays strictly for independent medical judgment.
Where FutureClinic works and what to keep in mind
Care is available to patients in 33 states and Washington, D.C.: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. The physician reviewing your visit has to hold an active license for the state where you are located. Active states are updated regularly, so if yours is missing above, give it a try anyway in case coverage opened there after publication.
Before starting a terminal session, keep three points in mind:
- Stick to your personal Claude login on a computer you own, never a corporate API key, employer laptop, or school account.
- Anything you type into Claude Code also travels through Anthropic, and you can revoke access anytime in FutureClinic's Settings.
- Controlled substances are never prescribed on FutureClinic, including opioids, benzodiazepines, testosterone, ADHD stimulants, and sleep medicines like zolpidem.
FutureClinic cannot handle medical emergencies, so dial 911 for an urgent emergency or call or text 988 during a mental-health crisis.
Questions, answered.
- Why does a FutureClinic visit fail if I run claude -p?
- FutureClinic never sends your medical intake to a physician without your explicit confirmation. Because a non-interactive claude -p command cannot pause to ask for your approval inside the terminal, you need to run your visit from a standard interactive Claude Code session.
- If I use both Claude Desktop and Claude Code, should I connect FutureClinic twice?
- No. When you connect through the Add to Claude dialog on a Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise plan, FutureClinic attaches to your Claude account and works across Claude Code and Claude Desktop automatically. Setting up the same server URL a second time will make you authenticate twice.
- Will I see a licensed physician or a mid-level clinician?
- You will always see a licensed physician with an MD, DO, or MBBS degree. Every doctor is verified and vetted by FutureClinic before taking patients, and the clinic never uses nurse practitioners or physician assistants.
- Can I message the same doctor if my skin flares up again?
- Yes. Whether you choose the $40 best-fit visit or pick a specific physician from the recommendations (typically $20 to $100), you can stay with the same doctor for follow-up questions, prescription refills, and progress updates in the same chat from Claude Code or the FutureClinic app.
