How to add a doctor to Claude

Claude already knows your story. Connect FutureClinic to send your case to a verified US physician for $40, with no appointment and no subscription required. See the setup steps and how a psoriasis visit works.

The short answer

Open futureclinic.com/connect-your-ai?app=claude, press Add to Claude, and click Add inside Claude's custom connector dialog. Once you review and approve your visit summary, Claude sends your case to a verified FutureClinic physician for $40, or you can choose a recommended doctor at their listed price, typically $20 to $100. Replies typically come within a few hours, and almost always the same day or the next.

Key facts

  • Claude's free plan supports one custom connector so FutureClinic works on it, while Team and Enterprise plans require an Owner to add the connector.
  • Every clinician on FutureClinic is a licensed MD, DO, or MBBS physician who is verified and vetted before seeing patients, never a nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
  • You can pay $40 for the best-fit doctor from a network of more than 280 doctors across 63 specialties, with no subscription required, and receive a live-recorded Human Signature with your plan.
Add FutureClinic to Claude
Start a visit with a licensed doctor from the conversation you are already in.

Rough, silvery patches have returned on both elbows. After a few calm weeks, the skin is thick, red, and itching again, and drugstore creams are doing very little. You have already talked the flare through with Claude, uploaded a photo, and discussed plaque psoriasis. Then the conversation hits a wall: an AI assistant can help organize your thoughts, but only a licensed physician can make a diagnosis or send a prescription to your pharmacy.

Usually, that means waiting weeks for a rushed clinic visit or joining a video queue to explain your history from scratch to whoever is on shift. Connecting FutureClinic to Claude turns your existing chat into a visit with a licensed US physician.

What happens when you connect FutureClinic to Claude?

FutureClinic links to Claude as a custom connector built on the Model Context Protocol, the open standard from Anthropic that lets Claude interact with external services. Once you add a doctor through an MCP, Claude gets tools to prepare your medical intake, assemble a visit summary for your approval, and send it to a physician.

The immediate benefit is what you skip. A regular clinic hands you a blank intake clipboard regardless of what you have already written down. Because we believe personal AI agents are becoming the place where people manage their health questions, FutureClinic lets Claude draft intake answers from your existing conversation. You check each answer before moving ahead, so you don't repeat yourself.

Who reviews your medical case?

Every clinician on FutureClinic is a licensed physician holding an MD, DO, or MBBS degree. Before any physician can see a patient, they are verified and vetted by FutureClinic. Your case is never handed to a nurse practitioner or a physician assistant, because your health deserves expert-level care.

The clinic includes more than 280 doctors across 63 specialties, bringing together generalists and specialists alike. For psoriasis, a dermatologist or a family or internal medicine doctor can evaluate your skin and build a treatment plan.

Three things to check first

  • Your account. Use your personal Claude account on your own computer or phone, rather than a work or school account.
  • Your plan. Claude's free plan allows one custom connector. Remove any existing custom connector first so the slot is open.
  • Your role. On a Team or Enterprise plan, only an Owner can add a connector.

How to add FutureClinic to Claude, step by step

Complete these steps at claude.ai on a computer or in Claude Desktop. Once added there, it works in the Claude app on your iPhone or Android phone too.

  1. Press Add to Claude. Claude opens its "Add custom connector" dialog with FutureClinic already filled in.
  2. Leave "Sign in now" and "Use Claude's published identity" as they are, and press Add.
  3. The first time Claude uses FutureClinic, it opens futureclinic.com in your browser. Sign in, or create an account.
  4. Agree to let Claude send your answers and photos to FutureClinic, and read your FutureClinic chats and health record.

Once it's connected, make sure you instruct your AI to use FutureClinic to help find you a doctor. Otherwise, it may not know that this is what you want.

Backup setup if the dialog does not finish

If the custom connector dialog fails, or if you use Claude Code in your terminal, paste the one-line setup into Claude:

Set up FutureClinic for me: read https://futureclinic.com/llms.txt

That address is FutureClinic's llms.txt, a file of setup steps made for AI apps. Claude reads it and gives you the next step for your app.

Why does Claude ask before each step?

Each FutureClinic tool starts at "Needs approval" so Claude checks with you before running an action. You can open Customize > Connectors and set tools to "Always allow", but keep the tool that confirms your visit summary on "Needs approval". Nothing reaches a doctor without your yes.

Taking a psoriasis flare from chat to signed plan

  1. Describe the problem. Tell Claude what is going on:

Scaly, itchy patches on both elbows again. I think it's psoriasis. The drugstore cream isn't helping. Please use FutureClinic so a doctor can look at this.

  1. Check the intake details. Claude asks what the doctor needs to know: when the patches started, how often they flare, whether your scalp or knees are affected, what creams you have tried, and your medications and allergies. Claude fills in what it knows from your chat for you to verify, and prompts you to add clear photos of both elbows.
  2. Confirm your visit summary. Read the summary, fix anything that needs adjusting, and approve it.
  3. Pay on FutureClinic's page. Checkout shows two transparent choices before you pay, with no insurance needed and no subscription required. Pay $40 to send your visit to the best-fit doctor from the whole clinic, which most people choose, or pick a recommended doctor at their listed price, typically $20 to $100.
  4. Get your doctor's plan. Care runs by message with no appointment or video call. Replies typically come within a few hours, and almost always the same day or the next. Your doctor's plan comes with a Human Signature: a short video or voice note recorded live for you, proving a real physician took your case one to one.

AI helps with intake, while every medical decision is the doctor's. Your physician can diagnose the flare, send a prescription to your chosen pharmacy, order lab tests, or refer you. For follow-up questions or refills, you can message the same doctor in the same chat from Claude or the FutureClinic app without having to start over.

What does your visit fee pay for?

Many online health services profit from the medications they sell or from long subscription packages that keep shipping products. FutureClinic sells no medicines or products, and your doctor earns nothing extra for any prescription or test they order. Your fee buys your doctor's clinical judgment, as close as it gets to a clinic doctor whose sole incentive is your care.

Which states does FutureClinic cover?

FutureClinic operates in 33 states and Washington, D.C.: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming, and Washington, D.C. Your doctor must be licensed in the state you are in. States are updated regularly, so if yours is missing, try anyway because FutureClinic may have opened there since publication.

Notifications, privacy, and limits

  • Hearing back. FutureClinic emails you when your doctor replies and sends a push alert in the FutureClinic app. You can also ask Claude, "Did my doctor reply?"
  • Privacy. What you share in Claude passes through Anthropic. You can disconnect Claude anytime in FutureClinic's Settings, and access stops right away.
  • Controlled medicines. FutureClinic doctors do not prescribe controlled medicines, including ADHD stimulants, opioids, benzodiazepines, testosterone, or sleep medicines such as zolpidem.

FutureClinic is not for emergencies; in an emergency, call 911, or call or text 988 in a mental-health crisis.
