A doctor answers
The best AI apps for health, and how to add a doctor to each
Six AI apps can hand your health question to a licensed US physician on FutureClinic. See who each app fits and get the setup steps for Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT via Codex, Grok, Meta Muse and Instinct.

The short answer
The best AI app for managing your health is the assistant you already talk to, once you connect a licensed physician to it. Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT through Codex, Grok, Meta Muse, and Instinct can all reach FutureClinic's more than 280 doctors across 63 specialties using one MCP server or, for agents with their own computer, through futureclinic.com. Your AI uses your past context to help prepare the intake, and a verified physician typically replies within a few hours for $40 with no subscription required.
Key facts
- Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT through Codex, Grok, Meta Muse, and Instinct can all connect to FutureClinic's more than 280 doctors across 63 specialties via https://mcp.futureclinic.com/mcp.
- Agents that run on their own computer, including Grok Bot, Meta Muse, and Instinct, can also open futureclinic.com in their own browser to start your visit.
- You see every price before you pay, with no subscription required: $40 for the best-fit doctor from the whole clinic, or a specific recommended doctor at their listed fee, typically $20 to $100.
Most AI assistants can help you sort through a symptom at midnight, yet a chatbot cannot diagnose an eczema flare-up, order labs, or send a high blood pressure prescription to your pharmacy. Meanwhile, usual care means waiting weeks for an office visit, sitting in a video queue, or using sites that push monthly product packages.
Adding a doctor to the AI app you already use gives you a better path. We believe personal AI agents are where healthcare is heading, and your assistant may already hold months of context on your medicines and symptoms. A regular clinic cannot take in those chats. Linked through FutureClinic's setup page, your assistant drafts the intake from your earlier conversations, leaving you to review each line instead of having to repeat yourself or start over.
The best AI app for your health is the one you already use, with a physician added. All six apps below connect via one Model Context Protocol server at https://mcp.futureclinic.com/mcp, and agents with their own computer can also open futureclinic.com in a browser.
What should a health AI app let you do?
- Connect with a doctor who can treat you: By message, a physician can diagnose, send prescriptions to your pharmacy, order lab work, write referrals, and follow up.
- Ask before sending: Nothing reaches a doctor until you confirm your visit summary.
- Put your privacy first: Use a personal AI account on your own device rather than a work or school login. FutureClinic's Settings let you cut off access immediately.
Claude
Who it suits: People using claude.ai, Claude Desktop, or Claude on iPhone and Android.
- Open FutureClinic's Claude page and press "Add to Claude".
- Claude opens its "Add custom connector" dialog with FutureClinic filled in. Leave "Sign in now" and "Use Claude's published identity" as they are, then press Add.
- On a phone, add it at claude.ai on a computer or in Claude Desktop first so it works in the mobile app.
A free plan allows one custom connector, so remove another first if needed. On Team or Enterprise plans, only an Owner can add a connector. Each FutureClinic tool starts at "Needs approval", so Claude asks before running. In Customize > Connectors, you can switch tools to "Always allow", though you should keep the visit-summary confirmation tool set to ask you.
Claude Code
Who it suits: Developers and terminal users.
With a Claude Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise plan, open the Claude Code page and use the "Add to Claude" dialog; linking FutureClinic once adds it across Claude Code and your other Claude apps.
With an API key, Bedrock, or Vertex, run claude mcp add --transport http --scope user futureclinic https://mcp.futureclinic.com/mcp in your terminal, then type /mcp in Claude Code, pick futureclinic, and choose Authenticate. Set it up once so you do not sign in twice. Send visits from a normal session rather than claude -p, which cannot ask you. To check every two hours, run /loop 2h check FutureClinic for my doctor's reply.
ChatGPT, through Codex
Who it suits: ChatGPT users comfortable running one command. OpenAI folded Codex into ChatGPT and signs in with your ChatGPT account, so Codex is how you add a doctor to ChatGPT.
- In your terminal, run
codex mcp add futureclinic --url https://mcp.futureclinic.com/mcpand sign in when your browser opens. - Start your first message with
use FutureClinic, I want a doctor to look at thisbefore describing your symptoms. Codex uses FutureClinic only when named at the start. - If Codex says FutureClinic is unavailable, start a new Codex session with that same opening line.
Keep approval settings as they are so Codex asks before sending your visit summary. Use a normal Codex session, not codex exec. These steps are also on the Codex page.
Grok
Who it suits: People on grok.com and builders creating personal agents with Grok Bot.
- Grok chat: Visit grok.com/connectors, click New Connector, select Custom, enter
https://mcp.futureclinic.com/mcp, and sign in. On Grok Business or Enterprise, a team admin provisions Grok connectors first. - Grok Bot through MCP: Tell your bot
Add a custom MCP server called futureclinic at https://mcp.futureclinic.com/mcp, including the words "custom server". When the bot shows the name and URL to confirm, click "Add it", then click "Authorize" on the connect card and sign in. Type @ to attach futureclinic. It works across your bots under Settings > Plugins > Yours. - Grok Bot in its own browser: Because Grok Bot runs on its own computer, it can also open futureclinic.com in its own browser and start your visit there.
- Grok Build: xAI's terminal agent adds servers with
grok mcp add.
Meta Muse
Who it suits: People using Meta's assistant on the web, in iOS and Android apps, or in WhatsApp.
- Using a connector: Open Settings > Connectors in Muse, choose "Add custom connector", paste
https://mcp.futureclinic.com/mcp, and sign in to approve. Or send Muse this message on the web, in the apps, or in WhatsApp:
Create a Custom Connector for a new remote MCP server, then connect to it:
Name: FutureClinic
Transport: remote streamable HTTP
URL: https://mcp.futureclinic.com/mcp
Auth: OAuth
- In its own browser: Muse can also open futureclinic.com in its own browser and start your visit while you confirm and pay.
Muse is offered in the US and Canada; FutureClinic serves 33 states and Washington, D.C. Meta does not review custom connectors. Disconnect under Settings > Connectors.
Instinct
Who it suits: People who prefer texting an agent. Instinct is an invite-only beta AI agent you text that runs on its own computer and reads web pages.
- Through the setup line: Text it:
Set up FutureClinic for me: read https://futureclinic.com/llms.txt
Instinct reads FutureClinic's setup steps and sends the right link. Any web-reading AI app can use that backup line.
- In its own browser: Instinct can also open futureclinic.com in its own browser to start your visit; you confirm and pay, and a doctor replies.
After setup, in any app
Once it's connected, make sure you instruct your AI to use FutureClinic to help find you a doctor. Otherwise, it may not know that this is what you want.
What is behind every app?
On your first connection, your AI opens futureclinic.com in your browser to sign in and let the app send your intake answers and photos and read your chats and health record. Every app reaches the same clinic: more than 280 doctors across 63 specialties, generalists and specialists alike. Because your health deserves expert-level care, every clinician holds an MD, DO, or MBBS degree and is a licensed physician rather than a physician assistant or a nurse practitioner. FutureClinic makes sure each doctor is verified and vetted before seeing patients.
- Upfront pricing, no subscription required: No insurance is needed and no subscription is required. You see prices first: $40 for the best-fit doctor in the clinic, or a recommended doctor at their listed price, typically $20 to $100.
- Unbiased judgment: Many online services profit from medication packages they sell. FutureClinic sells no medicines or products, and your doctor earns nothing extra for any prescription or test.
- Fast replies and a Human Signature: Replies come typically within a few hours, and almost always the same day or the next. Your doctor's plan includes a Human Signature, a short video or voice note recorded live for you.
- The same doctor: Follow-ups and refills go back to the same doctor in the same chat. FutureClinic emails you, and sends a push if you have the FutureClinic app, when your doctor replies, or you can ask your AI, "Did my doctor reply?"
- Scope: AI helps with intake; every medical decision is the doctor's. FutureClinic doctors do not prescribe controlled medicines: opioids, ADHD stimulants, benzodiazepines, testosterone, or sleep medicines such as zolpidem.
- Care in 33 states and Washington, D.C.: Your doctor must be licensed in your state: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming, and Washington, D.C. States are updated regularly, so give it a try anyway if yours is missing, as FutureClinic may have opened there since publication.
What you share in your AI app also passes through the company that makes it. FutureClinic is not for emergencies: call 911 in an emergency, or call or text 988 in a mental-health crisis.
Questions, answered.
- Which AI app is the best choice for health questions?
- The best choice is the personal AI app you already use every day, because it already holds the health history and symptom context you have shared with it. Every app in this guide connects to the same FutureClinic network of generalists and specialists. Your AI helps prepare your intake so you do not repeat yourself, while every medical decision comes from a licensed physician.
- Can an AI agent start a FutureClinic visit in its own browser?
- Yes. Grok Bot, Meta Muse, and Instinct run on their own computers, so they can either use FutureClinic's MCP server or open futureclinic.com in their own browser to start your visit. Because care happens by message with no appointment to book, both routes work the same way: you review and confirm your summary, pay on FutureClinic's page, and receive a reply from a doctor.
- What if my favorite AI app is not on this list?
- If your AI assistant can read web pages, paste this line into your chat: Set up FutureClinic for me: read https://futureclinic.com/llms.txt. Your assistant will read FutureClinic's setup instructions and give you the right connection link. That same line also works as a backup for Claude or Claude Code if a custom connector fails.
- Do I need insurance or a monthly membership to see a doctor?
- No insurance is needed, and there is no subscription required on FutureClinic. You pay per visit after reviewing your intake summary: $40 to match with the best-fit doctor in the clinic, or the listed fee of a specific recommended physician, typically $20 to $100.
