A doctor answers

Telehealth vs. a doctor in your AI app

Video telehealth requires a booked slot and a camera with whoever is on shift. Messaging a doctor through your AI app gives you a vetted physician on your schedule, transparent pricing, and a recorded Human Signature.

The short answer

Traditional video telehealth asks you to book a calendar slot, wait on camera, and speak with whichever provider is on shift. Connecting your AI app to FutureClinic lets you message a licensed physician on your own schedule without repeating your health history, with replies typically arriving within a few hours. Every treatment plan includes a live-recorded Human Signature, and your doctor earns nothing extra from prescriptions or lab tests.

Key facts

  • Care happens by message with no appointments, waiting rooms, or video calls, and physicians typically reply within a few hours, almost always the same day or the next.
  • FutureClinic has over 300 doctors across 63 specialties, and you can stay with the same doctor after your first visit. Every clinician is an MD, DO, or MBBS physician, verified before seeing a patient.
  • Visits require no insurance and no subscription: pay $40 for the best-fit doctor or pick a recommended doctor at their listed price, typically $20 to $100.

Booking a traditional video telehealth visit still looks a lot like an office appointment. A patient registers on a portal, types answers into questionnaires, searches a schedule for an open time, and sits on video waiting for the next clinician in the queue.

Reaching a doctor through the AI app you already use works by message. You describe what is going on inside Claude, ChatGPT, or another personal AI app, confirm a visit summary, and a licensed physician writes back with a treatment plan. You skip the calendar and virtual waiting room.

How do you start a visit without having to repeat yourself?

Standard telehealth portals treat every visit like a blank slate. Suppose you have spent weeks tracking an eczema rash or logging high blood pressure numbers inside your AI chat; an ordinary medical office has no way to import that history. You have to start over on a form.

At FutureClinic, the view is that personal AI agents are the future of how people look after their health. Connected to FutureClinic, your AI brings your context along. Your agent drafts the intake responses using details from your earlier conversations, and you review and approve the final summary before any doctor sees it. You do not repeat yourself.

You can link your account by visiting FutureClinic's connect page, or by copying this prompt into any web-capable AI tool:

Set up FutureClinic for me: read https://futureclinic.com/llms.txt

On your initial setup, your browser will load futureclinic.com where you log in or register and grant permission for the agent to share your intake notes and images while accessing your medical record and message threads.

Once it's connected, make sure you instruct your AI to use FutureClinic to help find you a doctor. Otherwise, it may not know that this is what you want.

Start a visit with a prompt like this:

Use FutureClinic to help me find a doctor for a stubborn eczema rash on my arms.

Why trade a live video call for messaging?

Video visits require you to step away from work, find a private room, and wait on camera at a set hour.

On FutureClinic, care runs by message, with no appointments, phone calls, or video visits. Send your visit at midnight or between meetings and get back to your day. Typically, your doctor sends a reply within a few hours, and almost always by the same day or the next. When the message is ready, you get an email notification, plus a mobile push if you installed the FutureClinic app, or you can simply ask your agent, "Did my doctor reply?"

Included with the doctor's written plan is a Human Signature: a brief audio or video message recorded live for you alone, proving that a real physician reviewed your case personally.

Who actually reviews your case?

Standard on-demand telehealth platforms usually place you with whichever clinician happens to be available, with no guarantee you will ever speak to them again.

Our view is that your health deserves expert-level care, so every clinician practicing on FutureClinic holds an MD, DO, or MBBS medical degree. Care is never handed off to a nurse practitioner or a physician assistant, and FutureClinic makes sure every physician is verified and vetted before taking a single patient case.

The clinic spans 63 specialties and includes over 300 doctors, giving you access to both generalists and specialists. Once that initial visit wraps up, you have the option to keep the same doctor inside the same chat thread for future questions, prescription renewals, and ongoing updates, whether you message through the FutureClinic app or your AI agent.

What can a physician handle by message, and how do incentives differ?

Working entirely through written messages, your physician can evaluate symptoms, send prescriptions to whatever local pharmacy you prefer, order lab work, provide referrals, and check on your progress over time. While your AI assistant helps organize the intake details, every clinical judgment and medical decision rests solely with the physician.

Incentives differ too. A lot of digital healthcare companies generate revenue by pushing their own pharmacy products, selling bundled lab panels, or locking patients into recurring membership plans built to move merchandise. Because FutureClinic does not retail any medications or health goods, the physician treating you earns nothing extra when ordering a lab test or writing a prescription. Your fee buys their independent judgment, as close as it gets to a clinic doctor whose only incentive is your care.

If you need a hands-on exam, your doctor will tell you to be seen in person. Controlled substances are excluded from care on the platform: physicians do not write orders for ADHD stimulants, testosterone, benzodiazepines, opioids, or sedatives like zolpidem. This service is never a substitute for emergency care: dial 911 during a medical emergency, or call or text 988 if you are experiencing a mental-health crisis.

How do pricing and subscriptions compare?

Video telehealth costs often depend on insurance plans or monthly memberships. On FutureClinic, there is no subscription required and no insurance needed. You see every price up front before you pay:

  1. Pay $40 to send your visit to the best-fit doctor from the whole clinic, the default option most people use.
  2. Pick a specific physician from the recommended doctors for your problem at their listed price, typically $20 to $100.

Where is FutureClinic available, and how do you control your data?

FutureClinic doctors care for patients in 33 states and Washington, D.C., and your doctor must be licensed in the state you are in. Those 33 states are Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming, plus Washington, D.C. Active states are updated regularly, so if yours is missing, give it a try anyway because FutureClinic may have opened there since this article went live.

Use your personal AI account on your own device, never a work or school account. Anything shared in your AI app also passes through the company that makes it, and you can disconnect an app anytime in FutureClinic's Settings.

Questions, answered.

Does FutureClinic offer live video calls or phone appointments?
No. All care on FutureClinic happens by message, with no appointments, waiting rooms, phone calls, or live video visits. When your doctor sends your treatment plan, they include a Human Signature, which is a short video or voice note recorded live for you.
Can a doctor working by message prescribe medication and order labs?
Yes. A FutureClinic physician can diagnose conditions, send prescriptions to the pharmacy you choose, order lab tests, write referrals, and follow up over time. Your doctor earns nothing extra when ordering tests or prescribing medication.
How fast does a FutureClinic physician respond compared with a booked video visit?
A video visit happens at the specific hour you reserve on a calendar. On FutureClinic, you submit your visit whenever you want, and a physician typically replies within a few hours, almost always the same day or the next.
Will I see a doctor or a mid-level provider, and can I keep the same doctor?
Every clinician on FutureClinic is a physician with an MD, DO, or MBBS degree, verified and vetted before seeing a patient, never a nurse practitioner or a physician assistant. After your first visit, you can stay with the same doctor in the same chat for follow-ups and refills.
Do I need health insurance or a monthly membership to use FutureClinic?
Neither is needed. There is no subscription required and no insurance needed. You can pay $40 to match with the best-fit doctor in the clinic, or pick a recommended physician at their listed visit fee, which is typically $20 to $100.
