GLP-1 dose chart: Wegovy, Ozempic, Zepbound and Mounjaro
Pick your medicine to see how its FDA label steps the weekly dose up, the maintenance doses, and what the label says about a missed dose.
Your doctor sets your dose, and it can differ from this chart for good reasons. Do not change your dose without talking to them.
Wegovy (semaglutide) dose chart
Once a week, injected under the skin. Approved for weight loss, lowering heart risk, and a kind of fatty liver disease (MASH).
| Weekly dose | When |
|---|---|
| 0.25 mg | Weeks 1 to 4 (starting dose) |
| 0.5 mg | Weeks 5 to 8 |
| 1 mg | Weeks 9 to 12 |
| 1.7 mg | Weeks 13 to 16 |
| 2.4 mg | Week 17 on (usual maintenance dose) |
| 7.2 mg | Adults taking it for weight loss, if the doctor raises it, after at least 4 weeks on 2.4 mg (highest dose) |
Maintenance dose
The usual maintenance dose is 2.4 mg once a week, and 1.7 mg is the other option (for MASH, only if 2.4 mg is hard to tolerate). For weight loss in adults who have taken 2.4 mg for at least 4 weeks, a doctor may raise the dose as high as 7.2 mg once a week. If a step is hard to tolerate, the label lets a doctor wait 4 more weeks before the next one.
If a dose is missed, the label says
If one dose is missed and the next is more than 2 days away, take it as soon as possible. If the next is less than 2 days away, skip it and take the next dose on the usual day. If 2 or more doses in a row are missed, the label says to restart at a lower dose, so talk to your doctor before the next one.
Wegovy also comes as a daily tablet with its own schedule. This chart covers the weekly injection.

Ozempic (semaglutide) dose chart
Once a week, injected under the skin. Approved for type 2 diabetes, including lowering heart and kidney risk in people who have it.
| Weekly dose | When |
|---|---|
| 0.25 mg | Weeks 1 to 4 (starting dose) |
| 0.5 mg | Week 5 on |
| 1 mg | If more blood sugar control is needed, or for kidney disease, after at least 4 weeks on 0.5 mg |
| 2 mg | If more blood sugar control is needed, after at least 4 weeks on 1 mg |
Maintenance dose
The maintenance dose is 0.5 mg, 1 mg or 2 mg once a week, depending on blood sugar. The highest dose is 2 mg. For people with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease, the label’s maintenance dose is 1 mg.
If a dose is missed, the label says
Take the missed dose as soon as possible within 5 days. If more than 5 days have passed, skip it and take the next dose on the usual day. The dose day can move, as long as doses are at least 2 days apart.
Ozempic also comes as a daily tablet with its own label. This chart covers the weekly injection.
